Pakistan is passing through worst times as heavy floods have pushed the country back about fifty years as physical and social infrastucture have been badly damaged.Roads,Bridges,houses ,hotels, filling stations and almost every thing on groud have been hit hard in Pakistan, especially Khyber pukhtoonkhwa province which has been badly effected by the recent floods. If we go through history of floods,then 1929 ,people have witnessed such like floods but recent floods have caused much devastation then it caused in 1929.United Nations organisation have described recent floods in Pakistan worst then Tsunami.Pakistan has appealed for international assistance as it is almost impoosible for it to cope with floods of such a scale which have driven away and killed more then 2000 peoples and a big number suffered injuries and made hundereds of thousands shelterless.Farmers suffered heavy losseses due to destructions of their crops .The losses can be calculated in billons of dollars.This is high time international community raise to the occasion on the call of UNO and cotribute generously in rehabiltation of war affected Pakistan
UNODC and Mexico build strategic alliance to counter organized crime
30 September 2011 - Speaking after a meeting with President of Mexico Felipe Calderón, UNODC Executive Director Yury Fedotov has highlighted the impact of organized crime on the region and increasingly on other parts of the world. "These criminals are responsible for the death and misery of people across the globe through their increasingly diversified illicit operations," said Mr. Fedotov "We have to remember, however, that such violent crimes form part of a much bigger, worldwide picture in which we face a complex and shifting threat; we have to remember that while the crimes are often local, our solutions must be global." The Executive Director's two-day visit follows recent recent discussions between UNODC and the Government of Mexico as the two move towards establishing a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening a regional consolidated response to organized crime in Central America.
