Bridging the gap-Gen.Kiyani says Army and nation united

Islamabad:Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kiyani made a very calculated speech on matyrs day on saturday and tried his best to bridge the gap between the people and the army on various issues and perhaps he achieved the purpose for which he made his speech. He made it clear that prosperity is our aim but not at the cost of honour which was a clear message that Pakistan will no more follow policies which are considered against the interests of the country even if it means cut off in aid by some powers. He said Pakistan dignity and honour would not be compromised to achieve objective of prosperity.Matyers day was held at General Headquaters to pay homage to the martyers who sacrificed their lives for the motherland since 1947,the year Pakistan appeared on the world map.
Further elaborating his point of view,Pakisatan Army Chief Gen.Kiyani said that it was the pakistani nation to decide what is good and what is bad for the national interests.”Every pakistani wants to live with honour and dignity and the armed forces are with them in this resolve” he added.Although Pakistan Army chief did not name any country but seen in the backdrop of recent Pak-US tensions on Drone attacks and criticism of ISI by high ranking officials of US adminstration and afghan issue;one can safely say that the speech was directed to send a message to Obama administration that Pakistan will safeguard its interests at all costs.Secondly Pakistan Army Chief also successfully took pakistani nation that country armed forces and people think alike as far as country,s vital interests are concerned and he tried to bridge the gap between army and people which was created because of general impression in the country that Pakistani army has gone too far to appease America in so called war on terror and as a result the country, its army and people suffered tremendously.
