Petraeus can’t save US from defeat
LAHORE, Apr. 29: The Jamaat e Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that the new CIA boss, General Petraeus too would not be able to save the US from a defeat in Afghanistan.
The US had invited its own death by invading Iraq and Afghanistan with the designs to grab their resources, without learning a lesson from the fate of Britain and the USSR but all the hopes Washington pinned on Gen. Petraeus would soon dash to the ground, he said, in his Friday address at the Mansoora mosque here.
The JI chief deplored that while the US was heading for a humiliating defeat in the land locked country, the Pakistani rulers were still not ready to jump out of the US’s sinking ship. This amply showed that those placing the nation under the US slavery were not well-wishers of the country and the nation, he added.
He however wished that the Pakistan army was able to wash down the stigma of distrust on it, adding that if the army was siding with the real enemies of the US, its role was commendable.
Syed Munawar Hasan said the US had mentally accepted its defeat in Afghanistan by moving its last pawn, thus giving a message to its allies that it did not have any other instrument to avoid the defeat.
He said, the US- the ring leader of the western civilization had already been defeated morally and economically while the reputation of its so called superior war technology would also be tarnished very soon.
Washington hoped that Gen. Petraeus would be able to tide over the situation in Afghanistan but the experience of the last ten years would show that no one could save the US from defeat, he said.
The JI chief said that the Pakistani nation would have to learn from its past mistakes and give up its practice of voting the dacoits, plunderers and extortionists to power. Instead, the masses should elect the parties who practiced the Islamic principles in their lives.
He said the Zardaris, Gilanis and the Muslim Leagues had during the last three years, given nothing but deprivations and grief to the people who were now deprived of even two times meals. The lives of the common man had been made miserable due to price spiral, unemployment and load shedding while the ruling junta was trying to protect its rule.
He said, the JI’s public contact drive had infused a new spirit among the people who were rallying under its banner to get rid of the gang of the corrupt. He was confident that if the people rejected the falsehood and adopted the truth, the pat h of a grand revolution in the country could not be obstructed.
